Chettinad Transworld Micronised Garnet Private Limited (CHETRA) is a Joint Venture Company of the Chettinad Group and Western Garnet International, Canada. Western Garnet International Ltd is the world's leading producer of high quality almandite(almandine) garnet products. This 100% Export Oriented Unit operates the powder facility and focuses on the quality standards of different grades of powder. Established for producing garnet powder, Plant is located at Kazhipattur Village, Old Mahabalipuram Road , 25kms from Chennai , India.

CHETRA has gone on stream recently and has already started exporting the product. The plant is fine tuning, to produce wider variety of Garnet powder to meet the International Standards and promises to exceed the customers' demand in terms of quality.

The company maintains an aggressive Quality Management Program to ensure consistently superior product for its key markets. Like the parent company, we are committed to an operational philosophy that protects our environment and offers the finest in environmentally superior products to the world market.

Currently the plant is capable of producing around 300MT per month and plans to expand the capacity in catering the demand for the International market.

GARNET POWDER
Unlike the artificial abrasives, Micronised Garnet Powder makes a fine polish with less/ minor cracks on the applied surface. Garnet powder application is:

• COST EFFECTIVE
• ECO FRIENDLY

and leaves a beautiful gloss on the surface polished. This is used extensively in fine polishing of TV tubes, Computer Monitors, Bulbs and various delicate materials requiring high gloss.

Other relatively coarse grades find use in Water jet Cutting, Shot Blasting applications.
